Humpty Dumpty

Collection: Publicly Owned
Humpty Dumpty

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Edmond Employees and Friends

This partnered piece was purchased with private donations raised by City of Edmond Employees and friends.

Humpty Dumpty sits on his wall watching over the City of Edmond Administrative offices thanks to city employees Brenda Mayer and Linda Cresse. Brenda and Linda noticed the City Administrative building was the only city building that did not have a piece of art and approached Visual Arts Committee member Randal Shadid to see what options were available. Randal shared some available art pieces he felt would be perfect and after giving it some thought it was decided Humpy Dumpty was the perfect choice. Brenda and Linda then received permission to ask city employees for donations to get Humpty purchased along with matching funds from the EVAC. They easily achieved their goal. Some employee’s feel he was a great choice as it is rumored some city officials bear a slight resemblance to him and their picture with him has floated around city offices.

Humpty welcomes visitors to departments such as Human Resources, Purchasing and Utility Customer Service. He is one of our most popular pieces as you can frequently find people taking pictures with him. Humpty Dumpty sits tall and proud on his wall with no fear of falling in downtown Edmond.
