Giant Steps

Collection: Publicly Owned
Giant Steps

Sponsor: Purchased by Central Edmond Urban Board before Edmond Visual Arts Commission was formed.

This is a really nice sculpture for the kids to see. The height of the boy on the stilts catches your eye as you drive thru downtown Edmond. When I first saw it I thought it was a real boy and had to take a second look. A young boy is walking on a pair of stilts, looking slightly downward to see where he’s going. His right leg is forward, with his torso in front of the stilts. The big toe on his right foot is curled upward, indicating a tense footing on the stilt bar.

Giant Steps is in a grassy area of the curb at the northwest corner of Broadway and Main. It is one of many public art pieces placed around the city by local businesses and individuals partnering with the Edmond Visual Arts Commission.
