    Ham and Eggs
    Category: Outdoor Sculpture
Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Around the Corner Restaurant and Friends This bronze statue of a pig and hen is laying on the sidewalk in front of Around the Corner restaurant, a favorite among locals. Inside you will find some fascinating photos of Edmond in the early days. There are many public art pieces in downtown Edmond very close to this one. The pig (ham) is laying on the sidewalk, and the hen (eggs) is sitting on his back. His ears are alert, and he is facing forward and slightly upward. The hen is turning slightly to the left, facing the same direction as the pig. The length of the sculpture is about 2 1/2 – 3 feet long and about 2 feet high. A wrought-iron bench is next to the sculpture.

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Integris Health Edmond This bronze sculpture by Victor Issa consists of two figures. One is a nurse in scrubs squatting down to interact with a small child. The nurse is smiling and reaching out gently to the child. She has a stethoscope laid across her shoulders. The pig-tailed child, about four years old is dressed in a pinafore and is holding a bouquet of flowers in her left hand. Her hands are out in front in a relaxed position, and the feeling from the sculpture is one of caring and gentleness.

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Frederick Berg Canvas provided by Zahrai Family On the rear wall (east side) of the one-story building at 100 N. Broadway, just east on Hurd Avenue, this is a bright, colorful mural 60 ft. by 13 ft. called Buffalo Off Broadway. It is painted in aqua, gold and white and runs the full length of the building. On the south end is a large buffalo painted in aqua and gold in a style which mimics mosaic or pixels (little squares of color). The sun is depicted above, and a large chevron beneath the buffalo. At the bottom is a checkerboard of gold and hot pink. Along the upper portion of the wall is a checkerboard of aqua and gold. At the north end of the mural another large buffalo is painted aqua and gray, and a row of four smaller checkerboard buffaloes finish out the landscape on the north. The mural was painted by Zonly Looman, owner of Studio Z which occupies a portion of this building. It was painted in April 2017. NOTE: 7/3/17 – We just learned that the mural is still a work-in-progress. The portion on the north end which is less colorful is still being worked on. That portion will be named “Herd on Hurd” (the name of the street to the south). Will monitor and update as the mural is completed. UPDATE: 7/28/17 – Mural is complete. Added two additional photos of the north end after completion.

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Edmond Sun This bronze sculpture in located in front of The Edmond Sun newspaper office at the NW corner of the very busy intersection of Broadway and 2nd. This intersection is the south entrance to Downtown Edmond. Home Delivery depicts a boy delivering copies of The Edmond Sun on his bicycle. He wears a ballcap, long pants, and his sleeves are rolled up. A large newspaper basket with the name The Edmond Sun is attached to the front of his bike, where the rolled up newspapers are stored during delivery. The boy’s left hand is on the left handlebar, and his right hand holds a rolled up newspaper as he prepares to throw it. The boy has a big smile on his face. His left foot is on the ground, and his right is on the right pedal as he balances to throw the newspaper.

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Dakil Auctioneers, Inc. On the center median of South Kelly, in the 1900 block, across from Allegiance Credit Union. The sculpture is approximately 6-1/2 feet high. It consists of two interlocking curved shapes mounted on a short black post and standing on a 15 inch diameter metal cylinder. We’re not sure that abstracts should be “interpreted” and probably should be left undescribed, but as we studied this piece, two thoughts came to mind. The upper piece resembles a fish hook, and the lower piece may be symbolic of a fish’s mouth.

Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Randel and Dana Shadid Artist bio: Kimber Fiebiger creates bronze sculptures that range from fun and whimsical, to classical and contemporary. She lives in Minneapolis yet her sculptures have been sold all over the country where she has won numerous awards. Besides being a fabulous sculptor, Kimber has created a home/gallery/studio that will amaze and intrigue you upon viewing. Ask anyone who drives by her Gallery at E Franklin and S 31st Avenues. Her building has been described as having the artful complexity of Spanish designer Antonie Gaudi combined with the surreal nature of Pablo Picasso. Her recent outdoor landscape brings to mind playful images of Dr. Seuss and the imagination of Lewis Carroll.

    Category: Outdoor Sculpture
Sponsor: Edmond Visual Arts Commission partnered with Edmond Employees and Friends This partnered piece was purchased with private donations raised by City of Edmond Employees and friends. Humpty Dumpty sits on his wall watching over the City of Edmond Administrative offices thanks to city employees Brenda Mayer and Linda Cresse. Brenda and Linda noticed the City Administrative building was the only city building that did not have a piece of art and approached Visual Arts Committee member Randal Shadid to see what options were available. Randal shared some available art pieces he felt would be perfect and after giving it some thought it was decided Humpy Dumpty was the perfect choice. Brenda and Linda then received permission to ask city employees for donations to get Humpty purchased along with matching funds from the EVAC. They easily achieved their goal. Some employee’s feel he was a great choice as it is rumored some city officials bear a slight resemblance to him and their picture with him has floated around city offices. Humpty welcomes visitors to departments such as Human Resources, Purchasing and Utility Customer Service. He is one of our most popular pieces as you can frequently find people taking pictures with him. Humpty Dumpty sits tall and proud on his wall with no fear of falling in downtown Edmond.
