The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony (formerly Sooner Sinfonia) is a chamber orchestra based in Oklahoma City, Ok. Founded in 2019, members of the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony include a core of experienced orchestral players, supplemented with college music students beginning their professional music careers. The name is intended to convey the size of the ensemble that allows for the intimate, refined sound of a chamber orchestra with the depth and richness of a full symphony orchestra. The size of the orchestra is determined by the selected concert repertoire, but the orchestra maintains a core membership of 35 musicians. The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony primarily performs traditional chamber orchestra repertoire in addition to newer pieces. Occasionally, the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony will work with supplementary musicians to perform larger scale works.
Dedicated to its community, the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony performs every concert free of charge. The hope is that by eliminating the concert going cost, Oklahoma Chamber Symphony can share the genre of classical music with the largest audience base possible.
