A fast-talking huckster descends on River City, Iowa, in the summer of 1912, convincing the townsfolk of their need for a marching band. The slick outsider’s enthusiasm transforms the quarreling school board into a harmonizing barbershop quartet, Marian the Librarian into a woman in love and her shy brother into a boy with dreams.
